Easy to Use

Every beader has faced the same frustration: your pattern calls for Miyuki Delica DB-0010 but your local shop only stocks Toho. Our Bead Color Conversion Charts make that swap much easier. Each chart suggests the closest color match between two bead brands, organized by color family for quick lookup. Bead colors are estimated from supplier photos wherever a usable photo exists. Where no photo is available for a color, we estimate it from the bead’s own published color name instead — those matches are marked “Approximately” to reflect the lower confidence. Matches are made by computer color comparison. They are suggestions, not measurements taken from real beads. Screen and print colors vary — match by eye against your beads when it matters.

Before You Swap

A close color is only part of a good substitute. Check the finish too: matte, transparent, lined and metallic beads can look quite different from a plain opaque bead of the same color. Check size and shape as well. Toho Aiko cylinders run larger than Delica or Treasure beads, and a pattern charted for Delicas can look distorted when worked in round seed beads. Substitutes work best for accents and small areas; for large solid areas or gradients, compare against your beads first, ideally side by side in daylight.
